Welcome Back

By Glyn Brazell

As well as a number of new players arriving at Aston, this season sees the welcome return of a couple of players who have been away for a little while

Barry Maksymczuk, who is currently on honeymoon following his marriage to Claire, will be returning after playing only intermittently over the last couple of seasons.

Barry, who has featured in the 1st XV at fly-half, centre and full back, was part of the North Midlands Cup winning side of 2004, where he kicked a drop goal to help secure a 12-9 victory over Malvern.

Also returning, is Barry's brother, Chris Maksymczuk, who has been playing his rugby with Pontefract in North One East Division of the Northern league.

Finally, Sean Sandford, who made 2 1st XV appearances back in 2007/08 has returned to the club, and will be looking to regain a place in the senior side.

In an attempt to persuade more former players to become active in the club again, Marcus Harewood and Any Carry will be arranging some Touch Rugby sessions in early October - more details to follow.
