The Fishermen secure SW1 title with one game to spare

Congratulations to Brixham who on Saturday clinched promotion to National league 3 south after a 60-12 home victory over relegated Penryn.
The Fishermen needed just one point from the home game against doomed Penryn to be mathematically certain of winning the South West One West title.
Automatic promotion goes to the title-winning team with the runners-up heading for a play-off game against the second-placed side in South West One East.
Avonmouth and Clevedon were battling it out for second-place behind Brixham.  Having been stuck in South West One since 1997 – no team has had unbroken membership for that long – no one at Astley Park wanted to risk the play-off lottery & with Clevedon slipping up to also relegated Berry Hill on the weekend and Avonmouth winning, the barracks lane based club have secured themselves a playoff spot against either Salisbury or Maidenhead on the 28th April.
Brixham also have the opportunity like Avonmouth to make it a double as they lock horns with Exmouth in the Devon cup final.
