Brig continue their goal spree with another 5!

Bamber Bridge cruised into the quarter finals of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy at Daisy Hill on Monday evening with a 5-2 victory, setting up an intriguing tie away at Chorley in November.

The tie was effectively over at half time as Brig coasted into a 3 goal lead. A spirited fightback from the North West Counties Division One outfit in the 2nd half gave Brig some problems but the Irongate side ran out comfortable victors in the end.

Brig had missed several opportunities to take the lead in the 1st half before Jamie Milligan opened the scoring on the half hour with a trademark free kick. Smash-ing the ball over the wall and leaving the keeper rooted to his goal line.

The goal settled the visitors, who by now where peppering the Daisy Hill goal, it came as no surprise when Brad Carsley made it two on 40 minutes with a powerful header from a superb left wing cross from Chris Marlow. In the 43rd minute it was three. Cars-ley again, this time connecting with a low Paul Dawson cross and steering the ball home at the back post.

The 2nd half began with Danny Forbes on for Macauley Wilson, but on 50 minutes Man-ager Neil Reynolds made two further changes, bringing on Andy Haworth and Jordan Darr for Brad Carsley and Ryan White. Almost immediately the home side pulled one back. Encouraged by the goal Daisy Hill began to take the game to Bamber Bridge. The visitors responded and on 65 minutes the 3 goal margin was restored. Matt Dudley ris-ing to head home a right wing cross from Jamie Milligan.

Back came the hosts and on 80 minutes they pulled another goal back, what look to be a cross, deceived everyone and somehow ended up in the back of the Brig net.

Again Brig came back strongly and came close on numerous occasions before Jordan Darr finally grabbed the 5th for Bamber Bridge, latching on to a clever through ball from Paul Dawson and sliding it passed the keeper from 8 yards.

That was to be the last action of the match with Bamber Bridge making it 11 goals scored in two matches.
