Bare bounce back with good team performance
By Mathew Cook
Our team ticks boxes and performed well against a solid Heysham ‘a’ team.
Bare came to Heysham off the back of 2 losses to a grassy wicket with plenty in it for the bowlers. Coldplay’s brother won the toss and chose to bowl first and Oz (2-17) starting off well. D.Parker (20) grafted well as Heysham pulled the score to 57/2 with Bare’s dropping ability been second to none. The skipper put that right as he set the standard 57/4 became 72/4 with another recovery from R.Townsend (39) until he became another victim for Cook (3/19). Albon (2/25) got in on the act to with good pace and a snaffle behind from Nev. The rock P.McCallister (13) was smartly run out by Janet and with both bowlers been bowled out it was up to the Indian pro Vish (2/3) to spin the Heysham innings to an end with a competitive 96 all out.
After a lovely tea Heysham ‘a’ started strongly removing one of Bares openers cheaply but 2 dropped catches turned the tide in favour of Bare. R.White (12) was A.Cross’s (1/11) scalp with one of 2 good catches from Parker. K.Whitlock (3/34) then swung the tide back as Bare were 42/2. Then after a few chances given Oz went on the offensive and a smart innings from Teffers with the shot of the day and the worst 4 of the day, they put on a critical 50 partnership. J.Rawlings (1/23) bowled Oz for 49 in his jug avoidance. It was left to M.Peters (17 not out) and Welshman N.Jones (2 not out). A good team performance and a good result gives Bare 2 wins and Losses as next week they entertain Carnforth ‘a’ in the league at home then the 1st team in the Hackney & Leigh on Sunday at Cross Hill Park. Right to watch the greatest showman with our visitors with a dark fruits :-)
