What is this wet stuff?!

Rare rain spoils the end of a good contest on the Yorkshire border
Mr Martin won the toss for Bare and elected to bowl in the 25oC heat and young M.Hughes (13) built a good partnership to start with some accurate and quick bowling from the Bare openers. It took a catch from the skip off the bowling of White (1/23) to remove the Ingeton opener to build a good partnership between J.Hughes (31) and Fleming. The solid wicket and quick outfield aided some classy strokes from the pair as they put on over 50 together. First change bowler Cook (3/54) eventually producing the goods to break the partnership which led to a bludgeon of runs from France (14). Only halted by second change bowler Oz (2/18) who was accurate with his bowling. Whitfield (10) partnered Fleming to see him past 50 and as Ingleton came to the second drinks break at 132/3, Bare were looking to be chasing a big total. Vish (3/31) broke the partnership with his mixture of no balls, dross and unplayable deliveries! A good catch from Archy and neat work from Nev, getting a stumping saw Ingleton have a mini-collapse. Dawson (22) then built a steady partnership until he was removed but Fleming carried his bat for an excellent 81 and helped by Gorst (7 not out) to see Ingleton put on 56 in the last 15 overs. A good comeback from Bare but 191 looked a bug total with lack of bating.
After a lovely tea, France (2/32) struck in the first over with a ball being caught in the slips beard! Bhardwaj (13) got going then got out and so did White (16) with France doing the catching off the accurate bowling of young Capstick (1/24), apart from the 2 head shots that saw him removed from the attack! It was up to Moorhouse (18 not out) and Oz (5 not out) to steady the ship until the thunder, lightening and heavy showers came in and the game was sadly drawn. Mixed feeling from both teams but Bare look to move forward with a visit to Coniston next Saturday in the league and a visit from Penrith 2s in the league cup on Sunday. Now to catch up on casualty and Friday night dinner!
