Bare Bottle it as Arch has emergency treatment during game!
By Mathew Cook
Shires do the double leaving Bare lurking towards the relegation zone.
On a sick day for the captains son, Nev took over the reins after a nice breakfast bun! Having lost the toss on a warm day at Cross Hill Park, Bare were asked to bowl. A tight opening spell was rewarded early as Albon (1/25) removed the Shirshead 'A's' captain after some nasty body blows. It was then young Gould (37) and Foy (31) to put a 50 partnership together mixing defence with attack and Bare mixing dropped catches with a change in the bowling. It was a good return catch from White (1/45) it took to remove the other Shires opener and nearly another 50 partnership came with Foy and young Murphy until Archy took a simple catch to remove the hockey extraordinaire! Cook (4/31) then ripped through the middle order with Coulton (10) the only player to score double figures courtesy of a Bhardwaj boot over the boundary rope! The runs dried up for Shires at the end with 34 been scored off the last 15 overs. Oz (1/45) taking his only wicket in his second spell after the illegal immigrant had to be whisked off the field by paramedic AJ as hut slightly cut his finger (the pussy!). Shirshead 'A' making a par 143/7 off there overs after looking to eye up 180+ at one point.
Thanks to alla alla Vish, alla alla Vish, alla alla Vish for a top tea as Bare started the run chase with an early wicket for Smethurt (2/15) bowling right through his 12 overs for only 15 runs (tight spell). At 44/1 after 10, Bare looked to be in the ascendance till first change bowler Taylor (2/13) struck twice in quick succession removing a good start from Sharman (22). A good partnership from Adele (32) and the stand in skipper Nev (24) saw Bare to 105/5 looking in a strong position. Shireshead 'A' showing Bare how to catch as everything seemed to stick. Park (1/12) getting in on the act with a mixed spell from Rafferty (4/47) saw Bare crumble at the end. No heroics from Almond (9) as his stumping saw Bare suffer a second loss to Shireshead 'A' this season. Bare were in 5th place but that loss puts them potentially 1 loss away from the relegation zone (with other results going against Bare). Next week sees Bare travel 100 meters to play Cross Hill rivals Westgate 'A' away. Right, I'm off to sober up after that 95th minute winner.
