Beccs cycle ride & fundraising Sunday 3 June 2018

By Daniel Kemp

Summer cycle ride fundraising for the Wooden Spoon and Beccs. Be great to get a group of Beccs cyclists together.

Would be great to get a group of Beccs cyclists together to support this county wide event, particularly as its the first event of its kind, and Beccs are 1 of the 15 host clubs ! Part of the fundraising also goes directly back to Beccs.

What’s it all about?
"Club together" website with all details https://www.clubtogetherkent.co.uk/
On Sunday 3rd June 2018, The wooden spoon rugby charity are on a quest to visit 15 rugby clubs in West Kent over 100 miles of open roads. There are also two 65 mile options. All the routes are circular and riders will start and finish at their own rugby club.

There appears to be an appetite from a Beccs perspective, for the 65 mile northern route incorporating the following 11 clubs. Start and finish at Beccs, Bromley/Park House, Westcombe Park, Sevenoaks, Vigo, New Ash Green, Dartfordians, Sidcup, Old Colfeians and Beckenham.

On the day
Riders should arrive for registration at their own clubs by 8.30 a.m. to ensure that they and their bikes are ready for the 9.00 a.m. start. If not previously picked up, riders jerseys will be available for collection at that time. All riders are required to wear the official Club Together jersey.

This event is not a race and will not be marshalled. Each rider will be provided with a Strava route commencing and finishing at their own club relating to the distance they have entered. Club reps will be available at each club to assist riders as they proceed, and there will be refreshment stops at various intervals along the route.

Entry fee £50 per rider, which includes entry and a cycle jersey.
Fundraising can be done as a collective through the club (ie.. not for each rider).

Fundraising
A Beccs team fundraising page is already active here.
"Wooden Spoon will receive one half of all monies raised. The other half will be distributed amongst each of the participating clubs in shares proportional to the number of riders registered with each club".
