Oban and Renfrew game updates

By Peter Haveron

A tough outing against an experienced Oban side gave us the practice to return to the league campaign against Renfrew.

The Oban game represented out first game in 10 weeks and we were certainly rusty. Oban are a very experienced and capable team who in the end won comfortably. However for most of the game our boys battled well and whilst the result was never in doubt perhaps the scoreline did not pay respect to our boys. Two tries were scored by Stuart Wright and Gordon Stein on the day.
There is no doubt that the experiece of getting back into action helped us as we returned to league action against Renfrew. Whilst we battled hard against Oban the week before Renfrew had a never say die spirit against us and with a few more available players of their own on the bench would have easily closed the score.
Fourteen tries in all were scored by the following. Two each from Gregor,Wallace,Mike,Gordon and Calum. Single scores came from Ruaridh (who remains this seasons leading try kinger)James,Ryanand Davy Carruth.
Kevin added 5 conversions and gregor 1. Man of the match against Oban was David Carruth and against Renfrew Michael Degnan.
Next saturday will be a tough day at the office away to "Scotlands finest" police team. Kick off is 2.00 with the venue to be confirmed.
