Under 11s come close to victory

Blackburn under 11s went very close to beating Fylde in a very competitive and close encounter. Unfortunately, the lads went down 3-2 but it was a much better performance. The lads got straight into the game from the kick off, unlike our previous game against Bolton when we started 20 minutes after the opposition. However, against Fylde we actually went 1-0 up in the first 5 minutes through a typical mazy, dancing run by Ben Ham. The match was end to end, with both sides having some great periods of play. Unfortunately, Fylde finished off two of their attacks to go 3-1 up and Blackburn spurned a number of overlaps when they were attacking. To Blackburn's credit, we carried on fighting and heads didn't go down. A passing movement down the left saw Blackburn create a 2 on 1 with the try line beckoning but unfortunately, in the build up, a Fylde player injured himself and quite rightly, the referee stopped play to make sure he was okay. A few minutes later, Blackburn worked their way down the field and some strong running from Charlie McHugh made it 3-2 with a only a few minutes to go. (It was like watching his father in his heyday!!!). Although the boys lost, it was a far better performance than 2 weeks ago and after the game, I was informed by head coach, Chris Ham, that in the corresponding fixture last year, Fylde ran riot against us. So well done lads, keep training and working hard. Maybe we can go one better next week!
