Strong second halves for CUP FC but matches end in defeat

1sts and Reserves lose close games after solid second half performances

Playing title challengers in their respective leagues on Saturday meant it would be a tough one for both teams, and despite strong performances in the second half, defeat was the outcome for the 1sts and Reserves.

The 1st team travelled to West Wratting in the Prem hoping to pick up at least point and continue consolidating their mid table position. CUP competed well in the 1st half but trailed 2 - 0 at the break. They stepped it up in the second half, being the team on top for most of the 45, but could only make the breakthrough in the final minute as Dan finished well. 2 - 1 the end result, although this could have been very different with a little longer left on the clock...

The Reserves hosted Huntingdon United at the Cass, aiming to make it two wins in a row and start climbing back up the Senior B table. Although CUP created a number of chances in the first half, it was the visitors who had more and were clinical taking a 2 - 0 lead after 15 minutes and 4 ahead after 35. Ollie scored either side of half time to make it 4 - 2, which ended up being the final score despite a positive display by the Reserves in the second half.

Training takes place tomorrow night, a 6.30pm start at the Cass, for both teams to prepare for the weekend ahead. The 1st team face Cambridge City Development at Waterbeach while the Reserves play their second of four straight home games hosting fellow mid-table side Great Chishill.
