Victory is a rare thing 19 -11

Finally the second victory came. The entire team from Blank to 17 all showed great resolve to defend and attack against 3rd in the league Clitheroe.
The 1st XV had to take a few players so it was different squad assembled with
donald haddow in as Hooker , Peter Dickinson at No8. With the return of
dale lowrie back from injury & Joe Beswetherick as the centre pairings.
Within a few minutes of the start Carnforth pressure gained a penalty
Kevin Hardy took the kick 3 – 0. Breaking the horrendous pointless run that had been Monkey on the back of the Carnforth 2nd XV
The scrummaging was hard on the soft pitch with Clitheroe dominating, but with good work by the peter Dickinson Flankers of Phil Aldridge & Stuart Green,
All of the backs contributed to defence & attack containing Clitheroe to a few options.
At half time another set of penalties had the score at 6 – 3.
The second half was a hard affair with both sides trying to find a way through,
Kevin Hardy kept the score board mving with another penality 9 -3 . Clitheroe also scored 9- 6 The Carnforth forwards got ball out to
Mark Barratt and
Kevin Hardy linked to the centres with
Chris Albiston bursting through to score the try,
Kevin Hardy Converted 16 – 6.
Clitheroe worked a penalty to their No3 to power over Stuart Green to score out wide, the conversion was missed 16 – 11.
Carnforth pressured into the opposition half and
Kevin Hardy made a drop kick to end the scoring 19- 11. Despite no more scoring opportunities both sides worked hard to get the ball and move up the pitch. Peter Dickinson and Michael Pilka tried to drive over but were held up. Carnforth kept Clitheroe boxed in till referee called time on only the 2nd victory of the season for Carnforth
