Carniny started the match and dominated early proceedings creating several chances which they were unable to convert. Ashton Thompson was proving creative in midfield and finally the breakthrough came when Matthew Millar spotted Anthony Greer’s run and his inch perfect through ball was converted with a chip over the keeper. A short back pass to Luke Elliott was pounced upon by the Dungoyne striker but Elliott stood up and saved easily.
Second half and the game was more even. A Carniny corner was cleared up field and their striker seized the chance and despite Elliott pulling off a wonder save, the striker managed to equalise. With 5 mins to go Dungoyne worked the ball down the right and fashioned a chance which looped over Elliott and dropped in. Carniny pushed again and in a seemingly innocuous challenge Greer went down in agony. The ref blew the game up early as the paramedics were needed to treat injured player. The team and club wish the player a speedy recover and hope his plaster is off soon.
