Carniny had a dream start forcing a corner in the first minute. Isaac Wylie swung the ball in but it was cleared back out to him. He struck a speculative effort that went in over the Willowbank keeper’s head for 1-0. A quick throw in from Adam Douglas to Luis White was flicked on to Wylie. He spotted Harry Ross making a run and played the ball through. Ross controlled and ran on to poke the ball past the keeper for 2-0.
Carniny took their foot off the gas and the game got very scrappy with individual errors from both teams and the first half ended with little action.

Poor communication between defence and midfield in the second half allowed ‘Bank to win the ball and feed forward. Their striker unleashed a pile driver to pull one back. Carniny forced a corner and Joel Murray swung it across for Daniel Hayburn to tap in unmarked at the back post. Good work in the middle of the park allowed the ball to be fed out to Wylie. He played in Peter Martin who despite a last ditch tackle, saw his shot loop in over the keepers head. Carniny were dominating without creating quality opportunities but Murray managed to play in White who sidestepped a challenge and scored a great goal with his left foot from outside the area for the game to end 5-1.

Carniny dominated this game without showing any of their usual qualities and made hard work of it despite the final scoreline suggesting it was a walkover. They will certainly need to improve against stronger opposition.
