We visited Johnstown today, who have had some very improved results recently, so we were able to field a sotrng side, welcoming back
the talented David Bullough who made his first appearance since our win at Lex back in August. Joe Henry returned to the squad after a long term injury. We were hoping to make it 4 wins on the bounce.
The game started in tragic fashion after only 5 minutes when our second top scorer Scott Williams suffered a broken leg in a challenge from a home player. An ambulance was called and we waited for an age before they treated Scott and took him to hospital. The game finally re-started after 4pm, and it was David Bullough who put us ahead firing home from Gaz Higgins' fine cross. Then Marston was
taken out in the box, and GAZ HIGGINS confidently stroked home the spot kick. HT 0-2
We were well in charge of the game and on 65 minutes the lead was extended,m captain Adam Pugh flicking the ball over a Johnstown
defender and David Bullough volleying home for a fine goal. Then BULLOUGH claimed his hat trick after another assist from Gaz Higgins. But our hopes for a rare clean shreet were dashed again late on after a long ball found the home striker in the clear and he
despatched well for a consolation goal.
So its another win and we find ourselves in good form at present, Dan Shaw deserves special mention aftera fine midfield display, but
Man of the Match has to go to David Bullough because he is a class act, we need to see him more often!
News on Scott Williams is that he had an operation on Sunday, broken tib and fib, one pinned and another had rod inserted. We wish Scott a speedy recovery and he will be sorely missed. Our special thanks to Titch who did a fantastic job helping Scott whilst he was waiting for the Ambulance, and to Johnstown for their obvious concern and their assistance.
Our next game is on Tuesday night at home to Acrefair.
