Chiefs blow out the cob webs with tough victory
By Ben Shuker
Succesful first game of the season for the Chippenham under 13’s, as they overcome a powerful Dursley team.
As first games go, Chippenham didn’t go lightly when choosing which team to play, a trip to Dursley who have always given Chippenham a tough game, with the Chiefs yet to beat their Gloucestershire opposition in two years. Playing on a much bigger pitch than last season, there was some concerns amongst the coaches about defensive organisation. These concerns were soon put to bed with a fine all round display from the entire Chippenham squad. The forwards were really applying pressure at the breakdown and the backs exploiting the wider space. Chippenham’s try’s came from Harry McLaughlin, Hugo P and an excellent long distance solo effort from Fin Fielder.
As starts to the seasons go it was a very positive one for the Chiefs. With lots of things going well and with a bit better execution Chippenham could and probably should have scored more. With training next weekend it is something that coaches wil definitely be looking at.
