Chippenham U10’s V Devizes

By

On a beautiful sunny Sunday morning, Chippenham U10’s travelled to Devizes to take on our local rivals.

Traditionally Devizes have always proved to be good competition and today proved to be the case. Chippenham turned up with three teams and played against the two teams from Devizes. First up, it should be mentioned that congratulations go to our Welsh contingent after the performance at Twickenham and apologies for the traditional ribbing that they’ve had to endure. It’s even more galling to see one of our grinning coaches on the BBC enjoying the whole excitement. Well done Griff!!.

Chippenham A v Devizes A
The opposition proved very adapt at recycling and retaining the ball and Chippenham never appeared to get into the game. The tackling was not great and even though Chippenham tried really hard, they never got into full swing. The scrum didn’t work too well and the maul was poor. As a result, Devizes ran out 3-0 winners.

Chippenham Development v Devizes Development
What an excellent performance. The team really got into the Devizes side and never took a backwards step. They kept on pressurising Devizes and made the most of every mistake. Chippenham performed really well and worked their socks off for a 0-6 win.
Tries scored by Morgan, Harry (2), Oscar S, Archie and Josh

Chippenham (Colin) v Devizes Development
Chippenham produced a very fluid game that was too strong for Devizes. The opponents worked hard but great defence and slick handling proved too much and saw Chippenham win 0-2.
Tries scored by Oscar S and Oscar B

Chippenham Development V Devizes A
This was going to see how far the development side had grown and they produced a great performance. They stoutly took the defensive role and attacked with real purpose. When they had the ball, they smashed over the game line and most importantly, they retained the ball when going forward. Devizes proved to be swift on the wings and their two tries came from touch line sprints. Chippenham should be proud of the performance they put together. Devizes won 2-0.

Chippenham A plus Development subs v Devizes A
Chippenham again tried to match Devizes but struggled to retain possession. Too many times they coughed up the ball and this gave the opposition too much possession, When Chippenham did wake up, they showed great spirit and tried there hardest but lost 4-1.
Try scored by Charlie

Chippenham (Colin) plus subs V Devizes Development
Wow, what a game! Chippenham really took it to Devizes and proved far too strong in all aspects of the game. Thanks go to the Devizes Ref for controlling the match in such a positive manner that really contributed to the enjoyment for both sides. Chippenham kept on rolling and the tries kept coming. A very good performance and the team should be very proud of their overall performance in winning 7-0.
Tries scored by Archie, Gabriel, George (2), Josh and Oscar S (2)

Next Sunday, we have training prior to the BIG ONE. the Chippenham Festival on 11th March.

We would ask ALL U10 Players to arrive next Sunday at 9.45am as we shall be doing the Team Photo. Full match kit is required.

Match report – Who is this man of mystery? Does anyone see who this shadowy U10 match reporter is? Is anyone going to take on his mantel and make the role sing?
