After failing to make the most of their first half chances on Bank Holiday Monday, Chippenham went down to two second half goals despite scoring a late consolation.
Tyrell Miller-Rodney’s shot from the left on four minutes looked to be heading into the far corner before a diving save from Will Henry.
At the other end Nat Jarvis cut across the area but his shot went straight at Tom Lovelock.
From James Guthrie’s short corner Karnell Chambers fired over whilst Miller-Rodney’s shot at the other end lacked the power to beat Henry. Midway through the half Nat Jarvis and Chambers combined resulting in Guthrie’s shot being blocked on the line by Casey MacLaren.
Another Guthrie effort was then palmed down by Lovelock whilst on thirty five minutes Jarvis pulled the ball back for Mike Jones but his shot was off target.
Two minutes later Matt Smith’s low cross went all the way across the area until McCootie’s instinctive shot went straight at the home keeper. Five minutes before the interval Guthrie’s corner from the right went beyond the goal to Chambers whose shot was deflected back to Guthrie who in turn shot into Lovelock’s arms.
In the final minute of the half Miller-Rodney tried to place his shot around Henry but it was too close to the keeper.
After the break Dean Evans’s deep cross saw Chambers’s header drop in front of the keeper.
A minute later Chris Dickson’s thirty yard thunderbolt was superbly tipped over the bar by Henry.
Dickson then attempted to lob Henry from out wide but mishit his shot to the keeper.
On sixty two minutes a through ball left McCootie with only Lovelock to beat but he tried to place his shot past the keeper and Lovelock got down to block.
The home side opened the scoring on sixty five minutes as Daniel Uchechi stole behind the defence to head a cross that was superbly kept out by Henry but the ball fell to Miller-Rodney who fired home.
Josh Smile then came off the bench only to retire seven minutes later with a head injury.
Ten minutes from time Guthrie’s cross from the left to the far post saw Smith head over.
On eighty four minutes substitute Andy Sandell’s cross was met by a Will Richards volley that went straight at Lovelock .
Dickson doubled the home side’s advantage a minute later as he controlled a through ball on his chest before turning and running on to thump home from twenty five yards.
In the second minute of stoppage time Sandell’s cross saw Richards head narrowly wide, three minutes later McCootie’s looping header caused havoc in the six yard box and Jarvis scored with virtually the last touch of the game.
