The First Team lost at home in the league for the first time since August 2015, Champions Rhayder won 1-0 at Ty Brith on Saturday. Manager Chris Davies chose to rest a number of players for the game with a two cup games coming up in the next few days.
Rhayader created two good openings in the first half, keeper Kris Williams made one save and the other chance saw their striker fire wide. Peter Rees had our best two chances, the first he lobbed the keeper but saw his effort go just past the post, the second saw the keeper make a save.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with very few chances created by either team. With twenty minutes to go, substitute Drew Reynolds conceded a penalty which was tucked away to see our opponents go 1-0 up. Minutes later Steve Jones was shown a second yellow card for a late challenge. In the final minutes the Rhayader keeper made a fantastic save off a Jordan Jones volley.
