Pinchbeck United make their first trip to Compton Park tomorrow.

By Paul Jackson

The weekend is here again and while the first team are at home, the Reserves travel to Yaxley.

The first team return to action after their week off with a home game against Pinchbeck United in what will be the first meeting between our two teams. The game is third against fifth but it is only goal difference that separates them after they have both played three games, won two and drawn one.
The Knights were runaway winners of Division One in their first season in the UCL after winning the Peterborough & District League, although their original promotion was dependant on securing a ground-sharing deal at Spalding United as the facilities at Knight Street don’t reach the grading required.
They started life in the Premier Division with a 2-1 home win over Rothwell Corinthians then drew 1-1 at Boston Town before recording an excellent 1-0 win over Leicester Nirvana at the Sir Halley Stewart Field. Like the Cooks though they haven’t enjoyed the same success in the cup and they crashed out of the F.A Cup 3-0 at Rothwell Corinthians who had a quick chance to gain revenge for their opening day defeat. Their first three games of the season also saw them pick up four red cards which obviously didn’t help them much although from what I have heard a couple of them were harsh to say the least.
For the Cooks it is a chance to get back in the saddle and erase the memories of our shock league cup exit, while reminding the gaffer of what they are really about. I believe Montel Dore is away this weekend so there will be at least one change to the side, whilst Jake may well look at other options in utilising his squad.

The Reserves are top of the table after goals from Joe Shanley and Ali Duncan gave them a 2-0 win at Daventry Town on Tuesday night meaning they are still 100% in league and cup after their first five games of the season. They make the trip to Yaxley in the league with our hosts sitting in seventh spot after two wins and a defeat so far. They started off extremely well, winning their first two home games 5-1 and 8-1, but they went down 0-3 at Newport Pagnell Town on their first game away from the 3G at Leading Drove.

Both games get under way at 3pm.
