Nomads Academy Tour 2018 - Day Four Review

By Jay Catton

Training sessions at Rayo Vallecano, Players Awards and La Liga action with Real Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao.

Following another busy third day which culminated in the sides final friendly fixtures of the tour against Alcaron and C.F. Fuenlabrada, we entered into our final full day yesterday which was to include a training session at Rayo Vallecano, city trip to Madrid and match tickets to watch Real Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao.

Following breakfast the sides travelled to Rayo Vallecano for the sides third La Liga academy training sessions of the tour. Another great set of training sessions with all four sides broken into four mini groups with a focus on finishing and possession work.

Following the sessions all sides and coaches, as per all sessions over the week, thanked the respected coaches for their sessions and then headed into Madrid city centre.

All parents and players enjoyed the afternoon together in the beautiful city of Madrid in a relaxed afternoon of the tour taking in the sights and culture of the city.

In another jam packed itinerary program it was a quick transfer over to the Hotel Se Futbol for the final evening meal of the tour, where tour awards were also presented to selected players.

Tour awards included Players Player of the Tour, Coaches Player of the Tour and Supporters Player of the Tour and were selected on players performances both in sessions and games along with their conduct and behaviour across the week.

All winners were announced in the restaurant and were presented by all age group specific coaches with a trophy on a great achievement. A massive well done to all winners which included:

Under 8s

Players Player of the Tour - Jayden Smyth
Coaches Player of the Tour - Jake Pendlebury
Supporters Player of the Tour - Jack Davies

Under 9s

Players Player of the Tour - Taylor Williams
Coaches Player of the Tour - Lennon Young
Supporters Player of the Tour - Jacob Barlow

Under 10s

Coaches Player of the Tour - Drew Hayes
Supporters Player of the Tour - Dion Kelly

Under 11s

Supporters Player of the Tour - Blake Murray

To complete the tour following our evening meal it was back on the coach and head over to the Bernebau to watch a La Liga fixtures of Real Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao.

A fitting ending to a great trip which saw the players enjoy an end to end game and see Cristiano Ronaldo score a late equaliser for the home side in 1-1 draw, and as a Welsh club got the pleasure to see Gareth Bale enter the pitch late on.

An amazing trip which saw our players enjoy training sessions at Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid, Rayo Vallecano and games against Getafe, Alcoron and C.F. Fuenlabrada., Bernebau stadium tour, site seeing in Madrid City Centre and a La Liga fixture between Real Madrid and Atletic Bilbao, along with staying at the National Football Hotel of Spain and seeing greats such as Macros Senna, Julio Baptista, Fernando Hierro, Raul, Xabi Alonso and Xavi.

We hope all players enjoyed the experience along with parents and have taken away lots of memories in the process which will all contribute to developing them as players and people for the future.

A massive thank you personally to all parents on the tour who were great support through out, along with all players whose behaviour over the four days was impeccable along with their standards of performances in all sessions and games.

A huge thank you to Alex, Josete and Luisa of ITC Travel for organising and leading such a top class elite tour for the academy and Connah's Quay Nomads Football Club. From day one of the tour back in September, pulling together and organising, they have aided us in all areas with the highest standards of professionalism.

Finally a massive thank you to all of Connah's Quay Nomads Academy staff including head of Mini Phase Leighton Sumner, U8s coaches James Duff and Jamie Wynne, U9s coach Craig Griffiths and U10s coaches Ben Nash and Jordan Parry. We are so fortunate to have such commited and professional staff who lead and aided their teams throughout the entire week and deserve huge credit for the way they conducted themselves through out.

Full photo album from yesterday can be seen on the following link and as with all the photos from the week parents are able to copy and paste what they wish.

A massive thank you again to all for making this one of the most memorable trips in Connah's Quay Nomads Academy history, and we now look forward to next weeks Youth Phase trip including our U12s, U13s and U15s sides who travel away to Portugal for what will hopefully be another fantastic experience for all involved.
