U14s Crowned North Wales Futsal Champions 2018

By Jay Catton

Yesterday our U14s defeated TNS in the North Wales Futsal Finals and booked themselves a trip to the National Finals in Cardiff later this year.

The weeks action began last Wednesday with another strong win for Nomads Academy Coleg Cambria B side home to Coleg Llandrillo. Another strong performance by Iain Bennett's scholars side who are now just one win away from being crowned league champions.

Friday evening we completed our fixtures with Wrexham which saw our U13s ands U16s in action. Our U13s were well beaten, but our U16s put in a very impressive performance narrowly losing two goals to one in a very pleasing performance for coach Mark Rowlands on the evening.

Saturday morning our U8 and U9s hosted Flint Town United at The Quay 3G in friendly fixtures with our U10 and U11 sides in futsal festival action at Deeside Leisure Centre.

Matt Sampson and Kevin Manleys U18s sealed a six nil win over Aston Park Rangers mens team. The result moves the side up to fourth just two points off top place in the Clwyd East mens league.

Sunday saw our U13s narrowly defeated by three goals to two by Caernarfon before our U19s followed in league action to Llandudno in an end to end fixture which ended in a three all draw.

Unfortunately our U15s game was cancelled as Caernarfon were unable to raise a side.

The main action Sunday came from the North Wales Academy Futsal finals which saw our U12s and U14s competing in the top four finals both fighting for a place in the National Finals.

Our under 12s unfortunately fell to a four two defeat to Bangor City and followed with a four three defeat to Flint Town United in a third placed play off. The teams performances in both fixtures was very good and were very unfortunate not to progress to the National Finals.

Our U16s who had finished fifth in the league narrowly missing out on the top four enjoyed two mid table cup games to Prestatyn Town and Caernarfon Town.

But the team of the week has to go to our under 14s who were crowned North Wales Academy Futsal Cup champions after defeating Llandudno in the semi finals and TNS in the grand final.

Dale Johnson and Matt Griffiths side will now be looking forward to taking the side to the National Academy Futsal Finals in Cardiff later this season. A fantastic achievement by the side and a huge well done to all players and good luck in the National Finals in Cardiff.
