The Nomads arrived at The Venue excited at the prospect of another hard game against TNS. From the first whistle the Nomads played some good football passing the ball round to feet and looked to create an early chance on goal. Joe O’Gorman received the ball out wide on the right and used his quick feet to skilfully dribble past the TNS left back who brought him down. Joe took a quick free kick and laid it back to Daniel Spaven who swung the ball in towards the back post, the keeper managed to get a hand to the ball but it wasn’t enough to stop the ball sneaking in off the back post, for the Nomads to go one up. The goal settled the boys down and they continued to create chances with James Worthington making some good runs down the left hand side. Towards the end of the first quarter TNS started to look for an equaliser but some strong defending at the back by Harry Whitehouse and Daniel Spaven denied TNS scoring just before the end of the first quarter.
The Nomads picked up where they left off with Alex Harrisson Smith making some good runs up the left wing from defence. Elliott Evans took on two TNS defenders and was only prevented from scoring by some brave keeping by the TNS keeper who dived at Elliot’s feet. The TNS keeper had to be on top form in the second quarter to stop the Nomads from going two up. The keeper made a good save to his right but only managed to parry the ball out to the right and Leon Sumner was the first to react and drilled the ball home from a tight angle. Before the half time whistle Elliott Evans found the back of the net to put the Nomads three up.
In the third quarter The Nomads started to play some good football, Starting at the back with some confident passing from Danny Malone. TNS did start to threaten with some good play, In particular one move down the left hand side with some quick passing saw a fantastic shot fired in on the Nomads goal, but Kai Tilley got his hands to the ball to tip it round the post producing a fantastic save. The Nomads worked hard to find a fourth goal and a lovely passing move down the left hand side between Joe O’Gorman, Leo Sumner and James Worthington nearly earned the Nomads that goal they were looking for. Towards the end of the quarter Elliott Evans picked up the ball on the left and hit a powerful shot towards the back post which was headed in by Leon Sumner.
In the last quarter TNS played their best football and started to pass the ball round in midfield and looked to create more chances. Callum Manley made a great save diving full length to his right early in the quarter. TNS continued to work hard and found the back of the net three times to make the score 3-4 to the Nomads. As TNS looked for the equaliser The Nomads played some good football down the left hand side with Harvey Tattum picking the ball up wide, he dribbled past one TNS defender and made a strong run towards goal and hit the ball low and hard giving the keeper no chance to give the Nomads a well deserved 5-3 win.
MoM – Alex Harrisson Smith who had his best game for the Nomads made some great runs up the left from defence and passed the ball well to create chances for his team mates.
