Not a complete Nomads performance but strong enough to win by 4 goals to 1.
Nomads started brightly and after an even first half where Nomads had 4/5 great opportunities, Salvatore nodded them in front of a lovely corner from Curtis Cook, the first headed I've seen any of the lads score so a real treat! Curtis Cook then doubled the lead on 19 minutes after Kenzie Pickles put him through on goal, Nomads went in 2-0 up after the first 20 minutes. Nomads looked good but there was still room for improvement and they had an easy 2/3 gears to go up. Nomads were playing well, but from their own standards set from the first few training sessions and games in 2017 they could be better, they looked very good on the attack and if it wasn't for the Elite Academy goalkeeper they would have been 6/7 goals up.After Curtis Cook was brought down after being 1v1 with the last defender, Joe Barton scored direct from the following free kick and made it 3-0. Elite Academy got a deserved goal back that if it wasn't for outstanding goalkeeper Jack Skillen they would have got sooner. Nomads were the better team but didn't move the ball around well enough or keep possession of the ball, every time they went forward they looked good however the game was very 100mph and Nomads never really slowed the game down and kept possession for 6/7/8 passes. Nomads could have scored more in the last third if again it wasn't for an outstanding goalkeeping display. However in the last couple of minutes from a Joe Barton free kick Luka Salvatore powered in a corner with a lovely header into the bottom corner. Like a bus we've waited nearly two years for someone to score a header and then Salvatore scores 2 in one night. Salvatore looked dangerous upfront all night, with Kenzie Pickles and Curtis Cook also looking good, Charlie Jones was ever present at the back but Man of the Match went to Phoenix Hainsworth for a strong performance all over the pitch, especially in the 2nd third when he played at the back and got the team out of danger with several last ditch tackles.
