DOWNIE RETURNS

Jackson Downie joins Lee Knibbs squad

We are pleased to announce the return of Jackson Downie to Coventry Sphinx. Lee Knibbs has moved to bring back the popular young player who left the club in the summer to join Bedworth United.

Jackson has plenty of experience both at this level and in a Sphinx shirt after accumulating 111 appearances for our first team over the last few years. Those 84 starts and 27 substitute appearances have led to 18 goals for Coventry Sphinx. He had the opportunity to step up a level in the summer and joined Bedworth United where he made a number of appearances for the “Greenbacks”.

“Jacko” is most at home in a central midfield role although he has played a lot of his football for Coventry Sphinx in wide areas of the midfield too. He has also showed his capabilities at playing just behind the striker and has also played in defence on occasions. Wherever he plays, he’s tough in the tackle, has quality in possession and pops up with important goals. Jackson came through the Junior system at Coventry Sphinx and we are delighted to see him back at the club.
