CURRENT FORM:
Coventry Sphinx are without a win in their last five games so they’ll be keen to get back on track when they visit the Black Country on Saturday. Last time out they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Worcester City. Coventry Sphinx are also without a win in their last five away matches but four of those games have ended in draws which included a point at Coleshill Town.
Lye Town have one win in their last five games which came in their last home fixture against Westfields. They have won three of their last four home games with the defeat being a 7-2 loss to Shawbury Utd. Most recently they were defeated in Coventry on Wednesday with Coventry Utd stealing the points with two late goals.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS:
The teams have already met this season with Sphinx winning 4-1 at Sphinx Drive prior to Christmas. Lye took a 1-0 lead into the break but Sphinx responded with four goals in 7 minutes to take the game away from the visitors in style. The goals came from Guest, Faulkner and Harkin (2).
Last season the Sphinx Drive match ended in a 1-1 draw with Liam Cairns on the score sheet for Sphinx. Sphinx will be eager to forget last season’s visit to Lye Town after suffering a heavy defeat there and playing virtually the whole match with ten men after the early dismissal of Aaron Wint.
FACILITIES: Parking is limited at the ground but there is plenty of on street parking available nearby. There is a seated stand alongside the pitch and a covered terrace behind the goal. Hot food and drinks are usually available from a kiosk within the seated stand area. There is a bar in the clubhouse just before you enter the turnstiles.
