Leaders eventually prove too strong for stubborn youngsters
Title favourites Menai Bridge Tigers had to dig deep for their victory today at Cae Stanley. Bontnewydd without the experienced
Ian Pleming and Alun Williams in their line up fielded a team of 9 teenagers. In an evenly matched first half Tigers had the better chances with wide man Shaun Lock seeing an effort cleared off the line on ten minutes. Former Caernarfon Town player Darren Gowans and striker Dean Redmond going close but Bont's back four competed well and snuffed out any danger. With the Tigers showing frustration a long throw led to the opening goal on the stroke of half time when Dafydd Healy flicked home from six yards.

The second half started with a good spell of pressure from the home side and a long ball over the Tigers defence found
Cai Penny Williams whose lob just cleared the bar, the Tigers bench then felt that a penalty should have been awarded when Dean Redmond went down in the box. Cai.P Williams then clashed with Tigers keeper Dave Clarke with the gloves man doing well to punch clear.
With the young Bont midfield now trying the experienced Gowans and Sion Hogan took a grip of the game with Hogan cleverly threading a through ball for Redmond to score and make it 2-0 to the visitors. Bont then won a free kick and from the scramble the ball was cleared for Redmond to score his second of the match and end any hopes of a Bont revival.

Tigers title aspirations remain intact, however they had to work hard for three points and Bont will take heart from a good display ahead of next Wednesday's derby with Waunfawr F.C
