Yarnton 4 - Cropredy 2 Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division Saturday 25th November

OSL Premier Division leaders Cropredy came into Saturday's game boasting a 6 match winning run, however there was little sign of their recent form as they lost 4-2 to a spirited Yarnton side.

Yarnton started the game well, pressing Cropredy at every opportunity, they opened the scoring after a deep free kick was launched into the visitors penalty box, a great first touch and turn allowed the Yarnton forward to get a shot in which Cropredy keeper Kurt Fox tipped onto the post only for the ball to roll across the goal line with Dale Truby tapping home to make it 1-0. Yarnton soon doubled their advantage on the 15th minute, Steve Litten with a firm challenge to win the ball and from 25 yards out unleashed a shot which flew into the top corner of the net. In the 30th minute Yarnton had their 3rd after Cropredy's poor performance went from bad to worse, a dangerous ball was swung into the box with Jimmy Dibbs rising above the Cropredy defence to head home and give the home side a commanding lead. Just before the interval Cropredy pulled one back, Dan Watkin beating the Yarnton full back before squaring the ball to forward Luc Thornton who shot low into the corner to make it 3-1.

Cropredy came out more determined in the second half and created some clear cut opportunities in the opening stages to get themselves back into the game. The woodwork, wasteful finishing and great last ditch defending from the opposition made sure Cropredy's recent goal scoring form wouldn't continue onto another week. Yarnton continued to press and look dangerous on the break, they rattled the crossbar and then fired a shot over the bar when through on goal but despite wasting chances they got their rewards adding a 4th when Adam Wells saw a superb volley from 25 yards hit the back of the net.

In the final moments Michael Burrell grabbed a late consolation goal after speculative cross-cum-shot evaded the Yarnton keeper and nestled into the top hand corner. Yarnton fully deserving their win with great grit and determination, Cropredy will have to improve this weekend if they are to return to winning ways as they welcome OUP to Williamscot Road.

Oxfordshire Senior League Div 2

Cropredy Reserves slumped to poor defeat at home to Charlton Reserves despite taking the lead early on. Winger Tim Bennett going down the right flank before crossing to top scorer Tom Horne who calmly slotted home. From this point on Cropredy struggled to get out of first gear, Charlton equalised just before half time after the home side cleared their lines from a corner only for Dave Rooney to hammer the ball home from 30 yards past keeper Jordan Reynolds.

The second half was dominated by Charlton who made the most of Cropredy's dismal performance. A delightful piece of skill by Charlton's Christian Ronald saw him turn the Cropredy defence inside out before smashing ball into the net via the post to win the game for the visitors.
