Newly-promoted Nuneaton Town made defender Tom James their eighth summer signing after his release by Watford, in 2012.
Left-back James, 23, made a surprise move up nine divisions to Vicarage Road from Stratford Town, initially on a short-term deal, which was extended by Watford Manager Sean Dyche.
But, after a six-month extension in January, he was released in May after making just one appearance.
"We are delighted to have agreed a deal with Tom to join us" said Daventry Town Manager Darran Foster.
"He is a very confident and capable player with a great left foot, who can provide great delivery either from open play or set pieces."
