Denbigh Town are very happy with new signings first appearance

A lot of work has gone on behind the scenes to obtain the signature of 24 yr old Alfons Fosu-Mensah who has arrived here on loan from Welsh Premier League team Llandudno F.C. and he played his first game for the club in last evening's memorable 3-2 victory over Bangor City.

Alfons is originally from Holland, born to Ghanaian parents, and after playing for a number of clubs at youth level he became a professional with football club Oss making his debut in early 2015. However he moved to England shortly afterwards and signed for Southport. He has moved to a number of different clubs since including Southport, Colwyn Bay, Ashton Utd, Skelmersdale, North Ferriby, Hednesfield, Barwell and Marine.

In the Summer of 2017 Alfons joined Airbus Broughton and played in the Huws Gray Alliance scoring a hat trick in his first full game. In total he scored 20 goals in 31 appearances for the Wingmakers.

He has now joined Welsh Premier League Llandudno but has missed a lot of pre-season stuff and it benefits all parties for him to have a spell on loan to keep his fitness and eye for goal. Denbigh were keen to have him at Central Park. Dewi Llion said after the Bangor City match " It was quite clear tonight why Matty and I thought it was so important not to miss this chance. He is a strong powerful target man who also has speed and tremendous footballing ability. He gave everyone that bit of lift tonight,"

When we spoke to Alfons to welcome him to Central Park after his appearance he said " I feel very welcome at the club and think I will fit well into the team and will enjoy playing with my new team mates. I feel strong and fit but can only get better and fitter the more games I play. "

The club would like to thank Iwan, Victor and Sam at Llandudno FC and Aron at the FAW in Cardiff who were involved in arranging and registering the loan deal.

Alfons will not be able to play in The Welsh Cup but is eligible for league games, Huws Gray cup games and the Nathaniel MG Cup.

Come down to Central Park to see him and the rest of the lads in action next Tuesday evening 28th Aug Denbigh v Prestatyn in the Nathaniel MG Cup ko 7.45pm
