England Reach Wheelchair World Cup Final

Captain Jack Brown scored six tries to book England's place in the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup Final, beating Australia 78-36.

The game got off to a fierce start and England led 18-8 after an end-to-end first quarter.

But England quickly raced into a 30-8 lead on the half hour mark, before Brown's tryscoring exploits helped hold off an Australian fightback.

The game was in the balance as England led 38-24 at the break, but Mark Roughsedge's side turned on the style in the second period, scoring 30 further points to seal their place in the World Cup final.

Brown, who also kicked one goal, picked up the Player of the Match award for his efforts.

Joe Coyd, Sebastien Bechara and 16-year-old Nathan Collins, who converted two tries, all scored twice, while veteran Martin Lane added extra gloss to the scoreline with a late try and vice captain Wayne Boardman kicked an impressive ten goals.

After the match, England Coach Mark Roughsedge said: "I'm really pleased for the team that we have reached the World Cup Final. "We can now look ahead to Friday where we will play France or Italy for the chance to win the World Cup.

"We've had a bit of a bumpy ride to get here, but the team have trusted our processes during the tournament and have got better game by game.

"Over the last four years, we have worked incredibly hard in preparation for this World Cup and we intend to bring it home."
