Decisions from the DHC committee April meeting

Key DECISIONS and ACTIONS from the Hockey Club Committee Meet 3 April 2017

Section Reports
The committee reflected on a successful season. This has been a result of the hard work of our great coaches at all levels, the pitch time we have allocated to hockey as well as the players themselves. The highlights have been:
Juniors – came at least second at all age groups in their Yorkshire leagues. Three represented England U16 boys and girls. The U16 boys were Yorkshire champions and the U16s and U18s reached their respective national indoor finals events.
Mens – 1st came 4th, 2nds came 4th, 3rds champions, 4ths came 2nd and in playoffs, 5ths came 8th, 6ths came 5th, 7ths came 2nd
Ladies – 1st came 4th, 2nds came 6th, 3rds came 7th, 4ths came 4th.

Umpiring Course and Coaching
This has been organised for the 30 April. Please see Bev’s recent email on how to book a place. Alan Stoves has volunteered to run some summer video sessions making use of the recently purchased coaching package. Watch the notice board for details.

Social Events
The Junior event attracted around 220 juniors and parents making for a brilliant evening. The Club Dinner Dance numbers were around 120 and there was even time for dancing – a good night for everyone ! Awards were made to Ellie O’Neil (Ladies U21), Henry Pym (Mens U21) and Steve Holmes (Hugh Petty) for services to the club.

AGM
The Club’s AGM will be held on the 14 May at the club. A new Club President, currently Steve Ward needs to be elected, alternating from the Men’s to the Ladies section. The Club Chairman, Matt Goodwin, also announced his intention to step down at the end of the season. Nominations for President and Chairman need to be sent to Bev Deakin by the 30 April. The 2015/16 season accounts will also be presented.

Pitch Surface Maintenance
Our Sports Club representatives are getting us closer to taking more direct control of our own pitch maintenance and taking it away from the Sports Club. This will enable more caring maintenance of the pitch area, and pitch surface according to our needs.

Pitch – Surface replacement and Development
Ali West, Junior Coordinator, has volunteered to lead a team to understand the cost of replacing the current pitch surface and any other affordable improvements including a training area at the far end of the pitch. This will enable the Club to work out a plan to meet the funding needs.

Paid Roles and Volunteers - A short note covering the Club’s paid roles was approved for distribution to club members. It covers what might be done to encourage volunteers to support key roles eg coaching and webmaster. The note will be available at the AGM.
