We managed to get through all of last season without an sort of serious injury in the most part so I suppose fate dictates that we were travelling to free spending Mundford with no fewer than 8 First Team players.
Baz (Shoulder), Al and Aggy (away), Lewi (broken toe), Raffa (broken foot), Wheeler, Jahi and Swatty (knees) were all unavailable for the trip so Chris took the gloves and Reserve players Zach, Sandle and Fernando came into the squad to help out for the day. Add to this Ian, Matty F and Matty H playing through knocks we knew we were in for a tough day.
With the glorious sunshine at our backs we started the brighter of the two sides and forced a couple of early corners that came to nothing and the majority of the opening ten minutes was spent in the Munford half. The early pressure was soon relieved though as the Mundford front man broke away wide and struck a stunning drive into the far top corner for 1-0.
This didn't dent the Easton spirit though and we again forced some set pieces in good areas but couldn't draw level. Sags did find the net after a free kick but the linesman's flag put paid to the celebrations before George found the crossbar with a header just before half time.
HT 1-0
With the half time chat being all about how important the next goal was it took only 10 minutes for that strike to come and it was Mundofrd who got it as the same front man broke away before slotting home 1v1 and he quickly added two further goals to make it 4 for himself firstly with a cracker from 18 yards before heading home after a shot struck the bar.
With us having to make regular subs due to injury we huffed and puffed but couldn't force a consolation goal despite Beanie seeing aheader from 6 yards blocked by the keeper before Rob fired wide from a tight angle in the final few minutes.
FT 4-0
A harsh lesson about senior football in that you need to have a full squad most weeks to compete. We move onto Reepham next week where we will hopefully have 2/3 absentees back.
