Well it's a start

By

Sundays display that another year older doesn't always mean a loss of ability!

One game down and one win in the bag, artfully constructed by a team of the gifted, crafty, old and bewildered!

It was The Vultures first visit to Elstead and after a few delays and the obligatory warm up (pint) we cracked into forty overs in the field all looking like we'd spent the winter carbo loading for this moment. The wig of shame made its first unwashed outing too, gloriously perched on the head of veteran Andy Jourdain whose first outing it was with the Sunday's. As always, two overs each with the ball produced some honestly astounding bowling. We climbed the heights with young Louis, redefined the wide ball with Mr Little and were introduced to the wily antics of another newbie, Crasher, who displayed the fire of someone who frankly didn't look like he did.

After all the rain the wicket was something akin to a pudding, slow and low but luckily for the Vultures, Mr little must have have been close to their top scorer on wides alone and they were all gone for 66.

Dickie Wildthing and Doc wannabe, Mr Lee opened our reply and the straight blade of dick saw twenty on the board unusually quickly for him. Ben looked good for 10 minutes and then remembered himself and promptly got himself caught. Mr Sport Lincoln proceeded to play on and then the raw talent of Barry Young took the spectators breath away. Lucky, plucky skipper and author of this dross came on to display a flashing blade with Crasher joining him later on to seal the first win.

Excessive wig wearing by Mr Little was matched by avoidance from mr Wildthing, next match in two weeks, hardly any area of the game needing more practice, we're all over this Sunday thing! Thanks to The Vultures for their all round efforts and beers after the game, look forward to seeing them again next year.
