TWOS TAKE COMFORT IN SECOND-HALF SHOWING AFTER GIFTING THE VISITORS A HEAD START

ENFIELD IGNATIANS IIs 36 - AMPTHILL IVs 61

The twos certainly had it tough against the aspirational visitors in the first period when they trailed 28-0. However the flotsam and jetsam degenerated into something altogether more positive in the second-half which the visitors shaded after running-in half a dozen tries.

Captain Carl Asare-Anderson set the tone by capitalising on Ignatians' fine second-half start to break the ice for the hosts. Others to cross the whitewash were Stephan Metcalfe, Nick Ottley, Eron Dottin-Wilson and the brace-completing Rondel Bernard.
There was a pleasing fluency to the Ottley try after the ball travelled through the hands before the player outflanked the cover.

The two Rondel Bernard (pictured) scores were of contrasting hues. His first effort combined pace and power as he ran the length of the field to score, while the second was sheer opportunism in the form of a poacher's try - with the player capitalising after Ampthill dithered close to their own line.

Three of the six tries were converted by Carl Asare-Anderson (pictured) who said: "We played much better in the second-half and, at one point, we moved to within five points of Ampthill's lead. However, we flagged towards the end and Ampthill scored two late tries."
