CANNONS OUTGUN LILYWHITES
Ex-Faversham Town players Dean Grant and Kieron Campbell proved tormentors in chief as Hythe inflicted defeat on the home side at Salters Lane.
A dour first-half. Although Hythe can claim to have had the better of the territory and possession, neither side seriously threatened until the last five minutes of the half.
Faversham defend a free-kick from the right with all 11 men in the final 20 yards. The kick is successfully headed away, but only into the path of Ryan Palmer whose well struck shot from distance is watched wide of the right hand post by Simon Overland.
A Danny Walder free-kick from the left is flicked backwards towards goal but it's onto Oliver Lee quickly and he's unable to adjust. The header clears the bar.
Despite missing a number of notable first-teamers, Town have been organised and worked hard to restrict Hythe. 0-0 would represent a decent half-time scoreline. Something to build on in the second-half.
George Monger is penalised for a foul and Hythe are awarded a free-kick hotly disputed by the Lilywhites. With Town seemingly distracted by the decision, Palmer delivers into the area and Dean Grant in space heads over the advancing Overland. It feels like the proverbial kick in the teeth. All that hard work seemingly undone by one lapse in concentration. (0-1 after 45).

The goal immediately before half-time seems to buoy Hythe and they start the second-half with three consecutive corners. The final one sees a Hythe head flick the ball goalwards. Dangerously close.
Another corner from the right, played short for Kieron Campbell. A dangerous ball curling towards goal is headed over by Lee.
Jerson Dos Santos weaves through the defence and into the Town area, pulls a ball backwards for Ben Wilson who from just outside sends a powerful drive heading underneath the crossbar, until Overland extends an arm to tip it over. Fine save.
But the pressure finally tells. Campbell from the left, gets to the byline and heads towards goal before pulling a ball across goal and into the path of Ryan Johnson who smashes home from close range. (0-2 after 67).
Again Campbell gets free down the left and pulls a ball back for Jordan Johnson-Palmer who hits a well-struck volley over the Faversham crossbar.
With 12 minutes remaining Town win a corner. Walder takes from the left, Dan Carrington flicks on and Ryan Cheek's full bloodied header is surely in. But no, Will Godmon makes an unbelievable reflex save to send it over the bar.
And from almost being 1-2, within two minutes, it's 0-3. Hythe defend the corner, play it down the right flank to Dos Santos, who spreads it left for Campbell who cuts inside and drives a low shot past Overland's right. (0-3 after 80).
In the final moments, Sidney Sollis misses his kick in the area and goes down. The referee awards a penalty. Dos Santos' hits the bar with the penalty strike and sends the rebound over.
