Fillongley 3rds battle bravely
Fillongley went into the game top of the league. It was one of those weeks where availability was not great with the captains having to work overtime to get 30 odd players out.The 3rds going into there game with 10 players.This included Revs who was going to get to the game when he could.Things got worse with young Rylan having to drop out on the morning of the game.So Fillongley started with 8.Captain Brommo duly lost the toss and thought we where in for a few hours in the field but surprisingly there skipper put us in to bat!! Taylor & Arran went out to bat, Taylor was soon back in the pavilion for 9.This brought the captain in who was ready to battle it out.Arran was next out for 12. New boy Adam came in and failed to trouble the scorers. Brommo and new boy Dave then set about adding some runs.Brommo patient & Dave playing the more aerial route (probably the only way to go on a ground where you where not getting value for your shots)Dave was out for an entertaining 12.Jo Bal soon followed as did Youngy.This left Brommo & Stainy to get us up to 66 Brommo last man out for hard fought 11 a true innings for the team for the second week running.Fillongley opened up with Youngy & Stainy both bowling there normal immaculate lines & lengths.Youngys figures 1-15 where scant reward for how he bowled never gets the wickets he deserves.Roger finished with 1-11.Arran came on and bowled taking 3 quick wickets for 12 runs but Griff ran out winners by 5wkts.In the end 66 was never going to be enough but who knows with another 40/50 runs and 11 players what might have been.The team gave there all and never gave up. Special mention for Tom Revell who still turned up and came out to field for 1 over.Top bloke!!
