TERRY GLYNN NAMED GROUNDSMAN OF THE YEAR

By GEOFF TURNER

Flackwell Heath FC are proud to announce that Terry Glynn has won the prestigious Groundsman of the Year Award for steps 5 & 6 of the Non League Pyramid from the Berks and Bucks Football Association.
The prize is £500 in vouchers with which the club will buy a new spiking machine.
Joint Chairman Geoff Turner was delighted for Terry when he heard the news and said "This is a deserving accolade for the hours and hours of work Terry puts into keeping the pitch in the best condition possible with the meagre finances and facilities available to him."
"Terry made a promise that he would deliver the pitch to the best of his ability to each of the four teams at our club for every game and he has been true to his word."
Credit should also go to our Under 15's coach Dave Wilson who also helps out on the pitch and tends to the training area behind the far goal.
"The committee has spread hundreds of tons of sand and loam onto the playing surface over the years by handand there was one morning when Terry and myself sat ourselves on top of the roller to weigh it down when we had added three inches of sand to one of the goalmouths so that it would compact enough to make the six yard box level prior to seeding. Funny days!!"
