Wet & dry training for U11's

Youngster mix indoor and outdoor winter training

Fleetwood under 11’s have turned to the indoors to escape the worst of winter pitches for their Sunday training session

The High Impact Academy on the port’s Dock Street has been the venue for recent weekend sessions and coach Andrew Holden said it was good to approach training from another angle.

“The Academy is a brand-new facility in Fleetwood and it makes great sense to come inside for a few weeks during the worst of the winter weather.

“We’ve focused on contact work and the break-down drills. The cushioned gym floor and warmth make it ideal for the children to learn and enjoy the sessions. We’ve also had the opportunity to watch some training videos together.

“However, the players do enjoy the mud and wet conditions so we try to make a balance. After all, they are tough rugby players.”

One of the young players, Charlie, is firmly in favour of his team’s new approach to training.

“I think we can learn plenty of things inside and we don’t get cold and muddy. We do drills and we must work hard but we all enjoy coming to the gym.”
