Although always in command, the Silkmen were a far cry from the side that won last Saturday's League Cup semi final, and with the exception of Sheriff, were wasteful in front of goal.
Flint broke the deadlock in the first minute, when Shaun Beck, in what was possibly his last appearance at Cae-Y-Castell for the first team, hoisted a ball over the top for Sheriff to run onto and shoot low past the advancing keeper into the net. They doubled their advantage on 18 minutes, and this time Jack Stewart was the provider, sliding a ball into Sheriff, who produced a composed finish low into the corner.
On the half hour mark, Beck went close with a header, but Junction keeper Tom James made a good save. Llandudno fashioned a chance of their own a couple of minutes later, when Liam Jones produced a deep cross from the right that found Ben Roberts, who had a free header from 6 yards out , but he put it wide.
Flint were back on the attack on 39 minutes, when Sheriff delivered a good cross from by the corner flag, which was met by Richie Foulkes, but his rather tame header only found the arms of the keeper.
Sheriff completed his hat-trick on 52 minutes, when Foulkes weaved into the box and supplied a low cross, which gave the Flint striker a simple tap in at the far post.
Having gone three goals up, Flint took their foot off the gas, and when their talisman, Sheriff, departed the action just after the hour mark, they lacked any further goal threat. instead, it was the visitors who took the initiative.
On 73 minutes, Elliot Quinlan, in the Flint goal, was called upon to make a decent save to deny Jack Nettleton. However, with 3 minutes to go, the visitors' industry was rewarded, when Sean McCaffery breached a half asleep Flint rearguard, to shoot in off the post.
