You can't win them all

Some games you play rubbish & win
Some games you play well & lose
That, my friends, is life

Frickley gave a debut to Sam Liversidge (who did very well indeed in my opinion) & The Quads made a very welcome return to the starting 11.

The first half, for the greater part, could be summed up with the phrase 'midfield dog fight'. Frickley adapted well to the 3G pitch (which is a much better surface than the one at Basford IMO). The Blues had a couple of early chances, from an Algar / Hazel combo free kick & then Duggie was through but shanked his shot a little. But he was not be denied, on 26 minutes Sam Liversidge swung a cross in from the right & Duggie bundled it home & it was no less than Frickley deserved. Frickleys 100th goal of the season

Next up a great ball through the defence & Ishy D ran it to the byeline , beat the keeper & put the ball across the goal but it ran agonisingly close to the white line but never quite crossed it & no-one was on hand for the simple tap in.

A Darker cross was met by Gav but the ball glanced wide of the near post.

HALF TIME - BEDWORTH 0 FRICKLEY 1

The home team came out with more intent 2nd half but we had an early chance, good work by Gav to get the ball out to Ishy who cross was met by Liversidge who put his shot wide.

Next up absolutely sterling battling by Ishy D who SHOULD have lost the ball about 3 times but would not be denied & he released Haze to make it 2 nil. 35 for the season for Haze & he has beaten Gavs record of 34 from season 13/14.

& that should have been that!!

The home team got a goal back on 67 minutes that was an absolute fluke - the likes of which you see once in 10 seasons. Hugo cleared a back pass & it hit the ample corpus of Christie & rebounded into the net. This stirred the home team & 5 minutes later it was parity as a Bedworth attacker went unchallenged. From that point there was only going to be one winner.

Spen changed it around a little, Tyler Blake replaced Ishy D & Dangerous Dan Palmer came on for Duggie.

The inevitable 3rd goal came in the dying embers & Spen was sent to the stand - for telling the referee what everyone else was thinking.

FINAL SCORE - BEDWORTH 3 FRICKLEY 2

The boys played really well up until the 2nd goal, but the freakish nature of the 1st goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of them somewhat.

So Joyful January is followed by Fetid February

WEBMASTER MOTM - The Media Team were impressed by Liversidge & the team gave a good performance overall but the standout player was JC

198 through the gate (which looked optimistic) & a great number from South Elmsall - thank you to everyone who travelled.

Next up, we're away to Swallownest in the Senior Cup Quarter Final on Tuesday night - Beast From The East permitting
