The Blues fought out a goalless draw against Worksop as the two teams met for the fifth time this season.

Frickley had the lions share of the chances and went close on a number of occasions, notably through Jake Picton and Joe Wilcox, but at the other end had a great save from Jamie Green and a tremendous goal line clearance from Luke Jeffs to thank for keeping a clean sheet.

Manager Karl Rose was forced into several changes with the likes of Matty Bloor and Jimmy Ghaichem injured whilst others were unavailable meaning Patrece Liburd, Terry Barwick and Chris Howarth all returned to the side.

The Blues started positively with Jake Picton having a low 20 yard shot saved in the second minute whilst four minutes later Gavin Allott headed an accurate cross from Howarth wide of the target and Allott then hooked an angled 18 yard volley wide of the far post.

Worksop had their first sight of goal after 18 minutes but Steve Towers saw his 20 yard shot deflected wide.

The Blues should have gone ahead on 26 minutes when Luke Hinsley started a well-worked move that ended with Picton turning his man inside the box to create space before putting a low shot agonisingly wide from 16 yards.

James Burgess tried his luck from 25 yards but his shot went high and wide on 31 minutes before Callum Howe was forced to deny Lee Potts with a great last ditch tackle 8 yards out.

Just before half time Worksop’s Ryan Clarke made a great run from his own half to stab an 18 yard shot over the bar and Clarke went close again on 49 minutes when his dipping 25 yard volley forced Jamie Green into a great save to claw his effort away.

At the other end substitute Jamie Wootton glanced a Luke Jeffs free-kick wide of the near post and on 58 minutes a strong run from Joe Wilcox saw him fire a left footed shot from 20 yards just wide of the right hand post.

Another run into the box by Wilcox two minutes later saw his shot from a tight angle beat Paul Bastock but be cleared by Kern Miller.

Worksop went close to breaking the deadlock themselves on 66 minutes but Jeffs got back to clear off the line after Craig King’s shot had beaten Green.

Chris Wood headed wide when well placed and Wootton saw his 18 yard shot hit the side netting as the Blues continued to press but Worksop looked threatening on the break with Green having to come out to block from Nathan Modest and Leon Mettam stabbed the ball over from 4 yards following a corner.

With 7 minutes to go Wood could have won it for the hosts but he failed to get any power on his header following a great cross from Hindsley enabling Bastock to easily collect.
