After a couple of frustrating results recently, it was a great way to get back to winning ways with a comfortable 6-1 victory.
A few changes to the starting lineup saw Cunningham in goal for his first game back at Frimley Green, Joe Moriarty and Nana Afull were provided starting opportunities and we welcomed the return of top scorer James Robertson from injury. Latest Hartley Loanee, James Baxter took a place on the bench on his debut for the club.
Today was a day for football, we've waited a few months, but we got clear blue skies and sun, the only thing missing was the ice cream, we might wait another couple of weeks for those.
Frimley went into the halftime break 2-1 ahead. Goals from Drew Matthews and James Robertson gave us a halftime lead. There were a few chances but Frimley struggled to play with any composure in the first 45 and at HT a 2-1 score was slightly harsh on Farleigh.
Second half however as many games before ( Ignore Sheerwater away!) and Frimley owned the half, creating chance after chance and goals from Robertson, Matthews, Dearlove put us 5-1 ahead and then a delightful goal from Debutant Baxter from the bench, in his brief appearence, you could see why the managers were delighted to being able to provide him with experience. Unfortunately on the 80th minute Baxter went down injured after a heavy challenge and not wanting to take any risks for the lad, Frimley played with 10 men for the remainder of the game.
6-1 It finished and the MOTM award went to Ben Dearlove, Ben was everywhere today and some of the touches, passes and general tempo were a joy to watch. Special Mentions to Drew Matthews and Jamo for their 2 goals each.
We look ahead to Tuesday evening where we host Ash United at The Rec 7.45 kickoff,
