THE MEN IN BLACK are back…...and raring to go

By Andrew Marsh

Development Team kick off the new season tomorrow evening at the Bannister Prentice Stadium (kick-off 7:45pm).

The Young Miners start their season tomorrow with a home fixture against Campion and will be hoping to continue their good form from towards the end of last season when they won their last two games.

Due to the Lancashire League East Division folding over the summer, the club have entered the West Riding FA's Development League this season. The U23 Development Division pits us against the academy sides of National League Harrogate Town and Evo-Stik League Ossett United, plus our NCEL neighbours Liversedge, Harrogate Railway and Yorkshire Amateur, amongst others.

In terms of player personnel it is pretty much the same squad as last season with 22 players retained, to be joined by the following additions:

Micah Bleau - experienced centre half who played for Halifax Town youth team and FC United of Manchester’s first team
Brad Williams - young goalkeeper who’s played at Ossett Town U18s.
Mat Mather – 16-year old midfielder previously of Kirkstall Crusaders.
Jaydon Armstrong - Young centre half who’s played with Brighouse Town 1st team
Faruk Okuneage - 20 year old midfielder formerly of the Manchester City Development Squad.
Jack Downs - 17 year old winger how’s played at the Chesterfield FC academy

In addition the following 16 year olds join us from the York City FC WYDC: Finlay Bailey Hague, Cain Wilkinson, Harvey Winkley, Jamaal Whyles and Sam Sharman.

Hope to see you there, up the Miners!

Adults: £3
Seniors/Children under 16: £1

Food and drinks will be on sale in the clubhouse.
