With no 1st XV game on Saturday the Blues took centre stage as they opened their league campaign. They travelled to Colne & Nelson to play their 2nd XV and they went with a decent squad.
An impressive performance followed with the Blues running out as comprehensive 54-10 winners with four tries in each half and a bag of conversions from Duncan Lambert.
Elsewhere Sedgley Park 4ths, Tarleton 3rds and Wigan 2nds all maintained their 100% start to the season with the latter scoring an impressive 91-0 win at home to Bury 2nds.

On Sunday the Ladies were back in action for the first time this season when they took on Workington Ladies at home. After a very difficult season last year the Ladies have re-grouped over the summer and their determination was rewarded with a promising performance. Despite eventually going down by 18-12 it was a good run out for the Ladies and something to build on for the season. Garstang’s points came through a try for Skipper Emma Gardner, one for Holly Jackson and a conversion by Cerys Ellis.
