Grangemouth Colts 20 Crieff U18s 10

Grangemouth entertained Crieff yesterday in a tough ding dong game with great effort and skill by both teams on a blustery day. Grangemouth opened the scoring with a good run from James Denny leaving a trail of defenders in his wake to score wide out, the game then took a turn in Crieffs favour with a good score 5-5. Grangemouth then started to apply some pressure but good defence by Crieff and some wrong decisions prevented us adding to our score,from good pressure in the crieff 22 a miscued clearance kick by the visitors landed in Cudas arms for him to round his opposite number to score in the corner 10-5 half time. Crieff started the second half strongly putting Grangemouth under pressure but some sound defence kept the visitors at bay. Grangemouth then moved upfield and a combination of backs and forwards resulted in a try for liam Thomson 15-5 back came Crieff and sustained pressure resulted in a try to the visitors 15-10. A combination of backs and forwards moves took the ball into Crieffs 22 and with some good footwork by Calum Christie resulted in the same scoring in the corner by stretching and twisting and dotting the ball down on the line, unfortuanetly he injured himself in the process and it was felt that we should not move him and the ambulance was called. After a 35 minute break the game resumed with Crieff putting us under some serious pressure with wave after wave of attack which was repelled by the Grangemouth defence final whistle 20-10 win. A good team performance with captain Jamie Mcnab leading from the front abily assisted by Campbell Cunningham,Russell Brown and Cameron Hendry who gets better every week but MOTM goes to Sam Herron, with his usuall big strong runs and appetite to put the big tackles in.
