The Gingerbreads tonight swept away Coalville Town with a 5-1 victory at The Meres.
In a first half that probably saw Coalville as the better side in the first 15 mins. Chances fell to Grant Ryan and Danny Meadows, but it was Harry Clifton who opened the scoring late in the half with a tremendous 25 yard strike. It was almost 2 though minutes later when Stefan Galinski was denied low down from the Coalville keeper.
Minutes into the second half Luke Shaw got down the left hand side and put a deep cross in which Danny Meadows got to and fired home to make it 2-0.
The Gingerbreads survived a spell of pressure from Coalville which saw them have a succession of corners.
On his debut for The Gingerbreads, Felipe Barcelos hit the post, but it was Coalville who helped The Gingerbreads increase their lead. Dean Freeman headed the ball back to the keeper but instead it nestled in the goal!
Harry Clifton was back to it as he scored another screamer from outside the box.
Coalville Town managed to pull one back through former Gingerbread, Massiah Macdonald but The Gingerbreads were not done. As Felipe Barcelos got the goal his performance deserved after finding himself free in the box and smashing the ball home.
That was the end of the scoring and The Gingerbreads run out 5-1 winners.
Next up it's a trip to Cosby to take on Marine AFC
