Manager Adam Stevens named a strong side for the visit of Gresley tonight, and it was The Gingerbreads who raced ahead.
Within minutes of the kick off, Harry Clifton drove towards the Gresley box and was brought down. Danny Meadows stepped up to take the resulting free kick and via deflection found the back of the net.
8 minutes later it was 2-0 to The Gingerbreads. Lee Shaw found himself on the corner of the box and was able to fire home.
Coming up to half time, Luke Shaw played an exquisite pass to split the Gresley defence, Lee Shaw ran onto it, took the ball round the oncoming keeper and slotted home.
Halftime came with The Gingerbreads looking comfortable and 3-0 up.
Michael Hollingsworth made way for Rhys Lewis and halftime.
Gresleys Manager, former St Kitts and Nevis international player Damion Beckford-Quailey must've had strong words during the break as his side looked completely different. On 53 minutes, The Gingerbreads couldn't clear the ball and the Moatmen were able to pull one back, 3-1.
Felipe Barcelos, almost put the game out of sight when he controlled the ball on the edge of the box, flicked it over the Gresley player and shot. However it clipped the outside of the post.
Gresley were not giving up and they broke down the left, 3 Grantham players were beaten and the ball made it's way through Kieran Preston to make it 3-2.
The Gingerbreads hung on and go into the hat for the next round. The draw is likely to take place next week as a number of ties were called of due to FA Trophy replays. Rest assured we'll let you know our opponents as soon as we can.
