As good luck would have it, a FA Trophy win!

The Gingerbreads tonight got their first FA Trophy win in 9 years

After the late come back from Stratford on Saturday, The Gingerbreads were expecting a different start from the visiting side and this is what they got.

Stratford attacked from the front and had the first chances of the match. They were also not giving the space for Felipe Barcelos and Lee Shaw to work as well as they did on Saturday. But it was The Gingerbreads who took the lead when Lee Shaw fired home on 21 minutes, with our first shot on target.

The Gingerbreads got through to half time with Stratford still looking more dangerous than they did for most of Saturday.

The second half was only 3 minutes old when Luke Shaw played a great pass through to Felipe Barcelos who beat the defender and slotted home through the keepers legs, 2-0. It was also his 6th goal in 6 matches for The Gingerbreads.

Barcelos was almost at it again but fired just over.

After Saturday's events, The Gingerbreads manager Adam Stevens brought on Luther Wildin for Curtis Burrow, but instead of tightening the side up it gave them more space and a third goal came not much after. Harry Clifton once again found space on the edge of the box but this time he found the back of the net with a sublime outside of the boot finish.

Looking to tighten The Gingerbreads up again, Adam Stevens made a double substitution with Jack Beckett and Rhys Lewis coming on for Michael Hollingsworth and Luke Shaw.

Again though The Gingerbreads were not done. After breaking down a Stratford attack Danny Meadows picked up the ball and drove into the Stratford half, passed the ball out wide to Lee Shaw who cut the ball back to Felipe Barcelos to slot home and make it 4-0, much to the delight of the home crowd.

The Gingerbreads finished the match comfortably, passing the ball around between the whole team.

The first FA Trophy win in 9 years means that The Gingerbreads will face Matlock Town on Saturday 12th November at the Meres in the next round.
