Midweek Defeat For Gingerbreads

By Simon Hayes

Jeremiah Dasalou replaced the suspended Lee Shaw for tonight's visit to Mickleover Sports.

The Gingerbreads started slower than normal as it seemed the Mickleover defence had found a way to break up play. The experience of Pablo Mills made life difficult for Jordan Hempenstall and Dasalou.

Mickleover got the only goal of the match when they broke down the Grantham right and cut the ball across for Bradley Grayson to finish from close range.

The Gingerbreads finished the half stronger but rarely troubled the Mickleover goalkeeper.

The second half started as the first ended, with The Gingerbreads on the front foot.

Adam Stevens, made a triple substitutions on the hour with Jack Mcmenemy, Rhys Lewis and Tom Potts coming on.

Minutes later, The Gingerbreads had their best chance of the match. Curtis Burrows whipped a corner to the back post but Danny Meadows could only head wide back across goal.

Mickleover defended strongly and were happy to slow play down and hit the corners.

The Gingerbreads had two half penalty claims, Jordan Hempenstall and Rhys Lewis claimed they were fouled but the referee waived them away.

Even with 6 minutes of "overtime" added, The Gingerbreads couldn't find an equaliser.

With other midweek results The Gingerbreads drop to 5th
