Gresford back to winning ways in league
Gresford returned to winning ways in the league thanks to Obi Anoruo hat-trick, Owen Roberts 2, Jack Edwards and Adam Davies scoring his first goal for the club. The result means we have now lost one game in ten in all comps and we move up one place in the table ahead of Penrhyncoch.
Gresford open the scoring after just five minutes when a long diagonal ball into Owen Roberts was played inside to Anoruo who played a fantastic reverse pass to the marauding Adam Davies from left back who calm slotted past Keegan with his right foot. just five minutes later Owen Roberts who caused trouble down the left side all afternoon crossed for Anoruo to score from close range. Junction were struggling to cope with the Gresford attacking play, but were causing troubles of their own going forward and hit the bar from a 35 yard free kick. After 35 minutes though it was 3-0 thanks to Owen Roberts. Corner came in from Dave Macintyre, Jack Jones won the first header and Max Peate then got a vital header Owen Roberts swivelled in the box and smashed the ball into the bottom corner. The game then even out until another diagonal pass to Owen Roberts who managed to beat the Junction right back to the ball in the box and was brought down. Anoruo took the penalty but Keegan managed to get down smartly to his left to turn it around the post. From the resulting corner however it was 4-0 as Peate once again won a header in the box and it was Anoruo this time who turned and slotted past Keegan.
Into the second half and it was Roberts again on the score sheet after a quick counter attack Simon Smith played a smart pass into Roberts who cooly slotted into the far bottom corner with his left foot. Junction continued to threaten however and the dangerous Adam Eden managed to smash the ball past Platt after creating a 2v1 on the back post. Anoruo however completed his hat trick 15 minutes later though after being slipped in by Dave Macintyre and chipped it over the on coming Keegan. Gresford completed the scoring after a 17 pass move Peate released Davies down the left Anoruo missed the first chance but Jack Edwards turned it in on the back post.
Gresford now have five home league games before Christmas either side of the mouthwatering cup tie away at Llandudno FC.
